A weight loaded vent valve normally uses a soft resilient film material, such as PTFE , to provide the seal between the pallet and the nozzle. This helps to prevent sticking between these components. When properly maintained, this film seat design will provide an acceptable seal up to 75% of the valve’s set pressure. API 2000 and ISO 28300 provides the acceptance criteria for seat tightness at 75% of the set pressure. This allowable leakage can range from 0.5 SCFH (0.014 nm3/hr) of air for 6 inch (150 mm) and smaller valves to 5 SCFH (0.142 nm3/hr) of air for valve sizes up to 12 inches (300 mm). Many of these valves with the PTFE film seal are designed to provide a maximum leak rate of 1 SCFH (0.028 nm3/hr) of air at 90% of the set pressure. The storage tanks that are being protected by these devices are oftentimes designed to hold large volumes of fluids and thus can require a pressure or vacuum relieving device which needs to be able to deliver high venting capacities. Therefore, the size of these devices can be as big as 12” (300 mm) for their tank connection size. Since the force of the weights keeping the seat or pallet closed must be higher than the tank pressure multiplied by the exposed seat area, there are physical limitations to the maximum set pressure that can be provided. for example, the 12” (300 mm) weighted pallet valve may have a seat or nozzle area of approximately 90 in2 (581 cm2) that is exposed to the process.
10.The CIOC carrier is mounted to the top of a vertical DIN rail and up to eight CHARM Baseplates are mounted below it, snapping easily to the DIN rail as they are connected to each other. The bus termination assembly is attached at the bottom. A standard DIN-rail lock is used to keep the entire assembly in place.A pair of CIOCs installs on the carrier and communicates over a redundant Ethernet network with up to four controllers, allowing great ffexibility and ease of system expansion. Communication modules are available for copper and ffberoptic media.Each baseplate is ordered with 12 terminal blocks: standard terminal blocks, fused injected power terminal blocks, or relay output terminal blocks.Each CHARM acts as a circuit protection device and ffeld wiring disconnect. Signals are inherently current-limited to protect against wiring faults to ground. Each CHARM provides surge protection to meet industry standards in the area of EMC.
